Frequently Asked Questions

Q: If I buy Airik the Cleric, I would hate to have to buy another version right when it comes out. Do I have to buy it more than once?

A: No. You will not have to buy it more than once for updates, all future fixes and update versions of the game are yours free after you purchase Airik only once, only expansion packs with entire large and new playable areas will cost something, and those are only $5.00. The first expansion is free.

Q: I don't have Paypal, but my friend or parent does. Can they buy the game for me?

A: Yes.

Q: I purchased Airik, but have not received my download yet. Did something go wrong with my payment?

A:  Not likely. It's possible something went wrong, but the most likely reason you haven't received it yet is because Airik is a frequently updated game, and if an update just came out, we don't want to send you an old version, make you install it, then give you a new one to replace it the same hour. That would be silly so dont worry. Try waiting just a few hours and you'll get the most recent version available.

Q: When I play the game, the scout finder does not find anything. It just scans out infinitely. I am using Windows XP, does this have something to do with it?

A: Yes. It is a temporary incompatibility issue which will be fixed soon. Likely with the release of the XP version of the game set to release in the next few days.

Q: I left an area in the game in which I defeated all enemies. When I came back they were there again. This is a bug.

A: No, this is intentional. Enemies are supposed to respawn when re-entering places you left and came back to. It keeps the game a challenge when you need to back track.

Q: I opened a door, but didn't go through it. This must be a bug.

A: No. It is possible to open a door and not go through it if you bump into the door, but then face in a different direction as the door before pressing enter, you are in a sense turning away from your intended direction when you hear the door open. To go through a door, press against it in the direction it is in, and press enter. You will go through it.

Q: The music doesn't load when I load my game, this must be a bug.

A: Depending on the version you are using, if it is 1.3 or lower it is a bug. If it is 1.4 (which is available) then the music is not supposed to load until you leave the room.

Q: My sound doesn't load everytime, and I find that things I touch in the game are not sounding their cues. This is a big bug.

A: This is due to your system specs or the speed in which your computer is able to run at the time of running the game. Typically low end systems have this issue with missing sounds, however in some situations the sound fails on higher end running, in which rare case, It all depends on the speed in which the game can run. Try closing out of all other programs running on your computer, and get your PC running at its best before playing.

Q: I don't have enough time to get out of the way of a sliding bomb or tree or barrier from a boss battle, is this a boss bug?

A: No. It has been thoroughly tested that you can dodge bombs and trees, shield fire waves, escape rising lava, and punch through upcoming barriers. If you have little time to escape things coming at you from the north end of the room, try backing up. You'd be surprised at what giving yourself that extra bit of room can do for your available dodging time. Also, read the play guide for tips on defeating bosses.

Q: My crystal scouter stopped working, what do I do?

A: If you're using version 1.4 of the game, you can press A to refresh it. Try this and see if it works. If the game has a tendency to studder sounds in slow motion on you, then you might need to increase your system speed or download the upcoming lite version.

Q:  My finder doesn't find anything! This is a bug which makes it so I can't play the game.

A: Sorry to hear about the game sounds not loading. This is unfortunately about computer speed if it happens often. You are still in the area, but in order for latest versions of the game to effectively load every sound on cue, they need to be given a mid to high end machine or current speed. Remember to check the system requirements for more information, and check back in the news column frequently about the lite version. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Q: I ran into a tree or attacked a wall, and now it's repeating the sound over and over and I can't escape! help!

A: This little annoying bug has gotten us in a pickle too. I recommend walking quickly in all directions, and using the floor smash ability. If you do not have the floor smash abiliity, try attacking in the opposite direction as the thing you are stuck in. We will resolve this rare issue in the next version of the game, which will be available soon! In the meantime, try not to attack walls, and if you hear your player running  without you, quickly press up then down then right then left, one time each and that should stop him.

Q: When I die, I respawn where I died. Bug? What's up?

A: You only respawn at the beginning of every new area, only in bosses do you respawn in the same room, this is because bosses are very difficult, and respawning to the very entrance of the dungeon you came in is simply too much return work just to try again. No bug.

Q: I can't seem to find the parrot, he is gone from the place he was in before I spoke with the Captain, is this not consistent?

A: The fun of the parrot quest is finding him. He flies to different places around the cove. Just keep your ears open and you should find him. Unless you are having one of the speed issues mentioned above, in which case we hope the sound loads for you.

Q :If this is an audio game, why does it have video demands? Audio gamers don't demand that there are video elements.

A: Airik is an audio game that does require video and as such, I realize it is not typical of audio games. This is because the game doesn't run as a set of key inputs for making audio work, it is a real-time game that still has some video requirements. It is necessary for giving the video game experience in an audio way. Hope that makes sense. The game is not as costly as most video games, but it does require some things. See the system requirements section for more details.
